Bio

Yuan Yi is a mezzo-soprano singer. Her singing and performances combine precise musicality with sincere emotional expression. She focuses on interpreting Western art songs and classical opera repertoire, paying particular attention to the portrayal of songs and characters. She strives to establish an emotional connection with the audience through expressive and captivating performances, clearly and profoundly conveying the meaning and emotion of the music.

Yuan Yi has loved singing since childhood. Her experience in choir cultivated her keen musical perception, listening skills, and understanding of harmony. Although she only began receiving bel canto training at the age of sixteen, her artistic growth has always stemmed from her persistent pursuit of music and exploration of her inner emotions. For her, formal singing is not only a way of self-cultivation but also a powerful means of self-expression—it enhances confidence, deepens emotional perception, and cultivates artistic resilience.

As a performer, Yuan Yi is meticulous in both singing technique and emotional expression. She emphasizes healthy vocal production, legato singing, clear enunciation, and emotionally rich narrative expression, allowing the intention and subtleties of the music to flow naturally. She pays particular attention to how vocal technique supports narrative expression, enabling singers to engage in genuine and direct communication with the audience.

Beyond performance practice, Yuan Yi is actively involved in music education. She teaches music theory, mentors young singers, and supports choir rehearsals and children’s stage performances at the Chongqing Jinduo Children’s Choir in China. With her strong Chinese language and communication skills, she excels in Chinese-speaking teaching environments, clearly explaining musical concepts and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. These experiences have enhanced her communication skills and deepened her understanding of vocal development, musical fundamentals, and performance preparation.

Yuan Yi is currently pursuing further studies at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore. Looking ahead, she will continue to focus on classical vocal performance and contribute to the music field through her artistic work.
